Disable bugs in your PC. Malware, depending on the type, can harm your PC in various ways. If you think you can do away with this, disable it. To disable the indexing service, go to My Computer, right click on your hard drive and select Properties. Remove the check mark on the box that says, “Allow indexing service to index this hard drive for faster searching”, hit OK then close.
Disable the visual effects that you don’t need. Windows XP dish out excellent speed and brilliant visual effects. These are good save for the fact that they consume significant amount of computer resources. To boost your computer’s speed, disable some of the visual effects.

To know how many programs and whether you can delete some applications from the Startup folder, access the Startup tab via the MSCONFIG tool. Delete all programs that are unnecessary to boot up. To fully remove all traces of the deleted programs in the Startup folder, hit START, type services.msc, and delete the previously disabled files.
