More at: Neoprene Notebook Slipcases. The latest trend in optical disc storage is the bluray disc. The time of the DVD and the CD seems to be coming to an end. Compared to the 50GB of data that a bluray disc can store, the storage capacity of the DVD and CD which used to seem huge compared to the floppy disk, is actually tiny.
A good bluray dvd player needs to play not only bluray discs but CDs and DVDs as well. As bluray discs are read and written using a different wavelength of rays, the technology used in the bluray dvd player is one that has to be compatible with the new bluray technology as well as the older HD DVD technology.
The bluray dvd player has become a must own for many now, and there are many models available for purchase at stores and even online. Although in paying for a bluray dvd player, you’d be paying more than you do for a normal DVD player, you are paid back by the quality of the experience.
Standard quality is no longer enough, with everyone rushing to get super-high quality goods. That’s fair enough as we like to say that we’re getting what we paid for. A Bluray dvd player will give all of us the option of watching the same movies but with much better picture quality, clarity, sound and with the added option of using special features in a better way as well.
For example with bluray technology, bluray discs will be capable of holding much more information than before, and so hence a movie could be watched with the added specials in it.
There are quite a few companies in the race to provide the latest technology who supply the bluray dvd player. Fortunately for consumers who still have CDs and DVDs, big players like Sony, Panasonic and Samsung produce a bluray dvd player that’s compatible with CDs and DVDs as well.
Companies don’t really have to use this backward compatible techology, because it is optional in manufacture, but decide to do it to improve sales to customers who are reluctant to let go of older technologies.

The high storage capacity is one of the biggest advantages the blue ray DVD has over the standard DVD. Currently the biggest evolution is the Blue ray technology. But before talking about that, it is better to learn more about the Blue ray disk and Blue ray drives. The Blue ray disk is an optical disk that consists of a ferromagnetic material that is sealed with a plastic coating. There are various types of optical disk drives in the market but the most recent one’s to have captured the consumer electronic market are the Blue ray drives.
A single-layer Blue ray disk can store around 25GB and a dual-layer disk can store 50GB. This storage space is way higher than a normal DVD. Blue ray drives are needed to read and write data on to a Blue ray disk.
The way the Blue ray drives work is quite fascinating. The Blue ray drives have a laser inside it. The computer can actually read and write data on to a Blue ray disk because of this laser. During the whole disk reading process, a laser beam is projected on the disk. This reflects a light. The light changes according to the different effects of the magneto-optical Kerr.
The BDA, also known as the Blue ray Disk Association recommends that almost all Blue ray drives should be capable of reading the traditional type of DVD’s and CD’s. This is known as backward compatibility.
Although many consumers still use the standard DVD’s and CD’s to watch movies and listen to songs, the Blue ray disk format has gained more popularity over time. This is mainly because of its high storage capacity and outstanding performance. Who would want to purchase a traditional DVD that can store only up to 10GB instead of buying a Blue ray disk which can store between 25GB to 50GB?
In the early days where the Blue ray technology was at its initial stage, a few manufacturers used to make products such as Blue ray DVD players and Blue ray drives that played only DVD’s and not CD’s. But today, the new advancements have changed the Blue ray drives making it possible for the backward compatibility.
Having a high storage space compared to other disks is one of the biggest advantages the Blue ray disk has. Due to the increase of sales, manufacturers of desktop computers and laptops have incorporated Blue ray drives into them. Majority of the computer systems are now being shipped with the Blue ray drives installed in them. The Sony Playstation-3 also has a Blue ray drive that’s built-in.
For manufacturers of traditional DVD’s and CD’s, the Blue ray disk has come up as a major competitor, enveloping most of its customers. After all who would want a DVD with low storage space when a Blue ray disk can be purchased with higher storage space and more features?

Blu-Ray Discs Are The Way Of The Future
Posted by Goldy in Uncategorized on March 13th, 2009
I like blu-ray movies a lot. They offer really high quality picture quality. High def is where the world is headed. Following my introduction to blu-ray watching DVDs is akin to poking needles in my eyes. I saw Spiderman 2 on blu-ray the other and it couldn’t even compare to when I watch it on regular DVD a couple of years back. Not only the picture is improved, but so is the sound generated. I really can not say enough good things about these regular discs.
I bought a high def TV, and when I view normal TV programming or even DVD movies it seems like a waste of my time. I do not even think it’s a good way to spend my time really. I’d rather be reading or something like that as opposed to watching poor definition television. Some channels on TV are in high def, which makes it more experience, but still I think blu-ray DVDs are better.
Many people don’t buy blu-ray discs because they think they are prohibitively expensive. Yes it’s a little more money, but for the improved experience it is very worthwhile. They aren’t really overly costly. You can buy blu-ray movies online if you look for them. They really aren’t that expensive. One thing they are though is worth every penny. I would buy blu-ray movies even if they were $100 each. As opposed to really looking at price, I’d rather consider the quality.
Considering how far tech has come in such a short time I can’t imagine where it will be in another 20 or even 40 years. I suppose thinking about that stuff to much is useless. I will just live in the present. That’s why I don’t know why more people don’t buy blu-ray players. Again yes they are a bit expensive, but again yes they are worth it. Without mine I’d go crazy… not to sound crazy.
